Franz Stefan Kohl

Dream Drift, 2015

Acrylic on canvas

130 x 130 cm

Franz Stefan Kohl’s work is inspired by intensive studies of constructive and concret art. By placing lines and geometric forms in superb technical perfection  on super plain canves using a very reduced color spectrum in elegant tones a diverse even somehow organized patter develops in a roghly muscial rhythm. Having worked in the music business for many years, Franz Stefan Kohl’s incorporates aspects of oscillating waves or kicking spicks as can be seen on synthesizers, just with a contradicting effect. Whereas in music the impluse becomes higher with increasing loudness, his paintings emanate a wonderful relaxing and harmonically quiet atmosphere.
